The study will determine the value of the toll and the roads where it will be implemented.
The Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi announced that it has commenced the preparation of guidelines for the implementation of the new decree issued by The President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, regarding the new traffic toll system in Abu Dhabi.
A comprehensive study is underway, aimed at identifying and demarcating areas subject to the toll. It will determine the value of the toll, specify its technical aspects, as well as times of operation prior to submitting it to the Executive Council for approval.
The DoT will look into the matter of determining the best technological applications needed to collect the tariff. It will cooperate with the most compatible strategic partners who can provide optimal support during the implementation process.
Khalifa Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary at the Department of Transport, said that the toll is in line with the comprehensive road transport plan aiming at providing prime transportation services to road users. The tolls are aimed at lessening traffic and easing congestion along major motorways.
The Department of Transport’s objectives are to establish sustainable, integrated transport systems enhancing the quality of services available, thus enhancing the quality of life for residents and citizens alike.
