If you’re lookig for ways to entertain the kids this month, you can take them straight from school to do something that’s both fun and educational. Students in uniform will enter The Green Planet for free this month and explore all what the bio-dome has to offer.
The offer is valid Sundays to Thursdays from 1pm until closing time for every little one dressed in school gear who’s accompanied by a paying adult. This also means that the kids get to experience a favourite, the 4pm red-bellied piranha feeding time at the Flooded Rainforest.
Young ones can also check out The Australian Walkabout, an animal experience that promises a “trip to the Land Down Under” through multi-species exhibits that are specific to the mainland.
The Walkabout showcases different ecosystems such as abandoned campsites, red sand exhibits, planes and Australian landmarks, complete with their inhabitants, which range from kangaroos and wallabies, to snakes and spiders.
Visitors young and old can find more than 3,000 plants and animals, plus the world’s largest indoor man-made and life-sustaining tree, at The Green Planet. The school of piranhas will be joining a host of exotic and rare creatures, including the Linnaeus two-toed sloth, Burmese python, squirrel monkey, sugar gliders and a bat cave.
Also, if they want you want to get up close with the slow loris, which is part of a species on the brink of extinction and was found in a box by rescuers and taken to The Green Planet, kids can head for the second floor tropical forest.
