Sharjah Center of Astronomy and Space Sciences (SCASS), located in the University City of Sharjah opened its doors on May 07, 2015. Following the opening ceremony, Sheikh Sultan toured the new center and was briefed by Professor Hamid Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, on the new facility which offers educational programs as well as research and studies taking place in its special labs.
The new center has several exhibitions halls to highlight the contributions of Muslims to astronomy, the history of telescopes, satellites and also space exploration. One of the main attraction of the center is a 209-seat star planetarium that can project a brilliant star field of more than 10 million individual stars.
