Sharjah: Sharjah is joining the push across the country to install free electric chargers to power zero-emission electric cars, officials said on Thursday.
Sahara Centre announced that it is the first mall in Sharjah to install free electric vehicle charging points powered by Tesla, a California automaker.

“The initiative reflects Sahara Centre’s commitment to enhancing its customer service and satisfaction by exploring new innovations and opportunities. The charging points are also part of the mall’s continuous efforts to adopt sustainable solutions and encourage its customers to care for the environment,” the mall said in a statement.
Owners of electric vehicles will be able to top up their batteries at no cost via the three new charging points, which are situated in both the mall and new extension car parks and can be accessed during Sahara Centre’s opening hours.
The charging points can add up to 100km of range to electric vehicles per hour of charge and are reserved exclusively for zero-emission electric cars.

Electric vehicles are steadily gaining an enthusiastic following in the UAE and Tesla models even joined the Dubai taxi rank in 2017, reflecting the nation’s aim to become a global centre for clean energy and green economy.

Keeping abreast of this positive trend, Sahara Centre has installed the electric vehicle charging points to demonstrate its dedication to innovation and sustainability, and to contribute to enabling more widespread adoption of clean mobility in Sharjah.
