The iconic overpass is part of a larger Dhs5 billion extension to Sheikh Rashid Road
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, unveiled plans on Friday for the construction of a new bridge designed to cross Dubai Creek.

Of course, this being Dubai, this isn’t just any ordinary overpass. The Dhs394 million Shindagha Bridge project extends for 295 metres (150 metres of which will be over Dubai Creek) and has six vehicle lanes in each direction, as well as pedestrian walkways.

Perhaps most strikingly of all, the new bridge will feature an iconic design based on the mathematical symbol for infinity. You can check out a prototype of the bridge in the video below:

The bridge will have a clearance of 15 metres above water level, allowing ships and other vessels to easily pass underneath. It forms part of a larger Dhs5 billion Shindagha Corridor project that will extend 13 km along Sheikh Rashid Road.
